The Superior Quality of Volvo Ac Condensers

For countries with four seasons, there are few warmer days. Thus, during times when the temperature is way up high, long drives can be uncomfortable and dragging. It is a good thing that great minds were able to develop a way of cooling not only for houses and buildings but for automobiles as well. The Swedish automaker Volvo ensures the quality of every product that it offers. So that optimum cooling is achieved, Volvo vehicles are equipped with Volvo AC Condensers. The Volvo AC Condensers in Volvo vehicles are manufactured in such a way that air conditioner malfunction is avoided. As an AC condenser, together with an AC compressor, is another major component of a vehicle’s air conditioner, Volvo knows well the exceptional manufacturing specifications it requires. The company ensures that a Volvo AC Condenser performs its tasks efficiently—compressing the refrigerant vapor, pushing it to the heat exchange coil, and condensing it into liquid while rejecting the heat absorbed from the cooled car space.

This auto part, which is the counterpart of a car's radiator, works double time in keeping the refrigerant cool. The air conditioning system of a vehicle works best when its compressor is able to efficiently cool the refrigerant. As one of the integral parts of an air conditioning system, AC condensers have to be maintained. Not only when a vehicle's air conditioner malfunctions or gives off inconsistent temperature, an AC condenser has to be checked regularly. With the wear and tear brought about by the regular use of air conditioners, not to mention full blast operation during summer, the quality of second-rate components deteriorates within a short time. It is best, therefore, to get the AC condensers of superior quality like the units that Volvo offers.

To fight off uncomfortable heat, Volvo car owners ought to have the best air conditioning system equipped with Volvo AC Condensers and Volvo AC Compressors. Long drives, especially during summer, can be made comfortable and quite bearable with an optimized air conditioning system from Volvo.

Mercedes Benz Ac Condenser for a Cool Car Ride

As automotive history suggests, a Mercedes Benz is indeed a “cool” ride. It is undoubtedly one of the biggest auto makers in the world and it has produced vehicles that could testify the evolution of the car. The unique but specifically elegant design of every Mercedes Benz car has become a trademark of luxury. It is what the kids of this generation would call “cool”. But knowledgeable drivers do not just go for all that hype. They know that once the hood of a Mercedes Benz is opened, they will understand why kids dub them as the “cool” cars.

The Mercedes Benz has different systems for the different functions that make the car work. But the most critical is the parts that comprise these systems. Rest assured that Mercedes Benz makes quality car parts, from its engine up to the Mercedes Benz AC Condenser. This specific car part is responsible for keeping the “cool” in the cool Mercedes Benz ride. Each of these Mercedes Benz AC devices is crafted with the highest quality so that the air conditioning would not falter to deliver the comfort one needs in a Mercedes Benz automobile.

The air conditioning system of a Mercedes Benz car is comprised of a compressor, the Mercedes Benz AC Condenser, expansion valve and evaporator. If you have ever used a can of compressed air to clean computer components, you will know that the bottle gets very cold in a short amount of time. This is due to the rapid expansion of the compressed gas. The same thing happens in the car’s air conditioning system. Refrigerant (also known as Freon) is compressed in the compressor and turns into a hot gas. In the Mercedes Benz AC Condenser, this hot gas is cooled to a liquid state and travels to the expansion valve. As the Freon goes through the expansion valve it returns to a low-pressure gas and rapidly cools in the evaporator. A fan blows over the evaporator and cools the air that eventually blows out through the vents.

From time to time the air conditioning system needs to be recharged to bring it back up to maximum efficiency. Sometimes a leak may cause loss of refrigerant and will need to be fixed before refilling. It may be difficult to tell if a leak is present without specific test equipment, so it is always better to seek professional help. As the air conditioning system is responsible for the temperature inside one's Mercedes Benz automobile, it is crucial that he maintain it periodically. Problems can be fixed but if ever replacement would be needed, one may easily find Mercedes Benz air conditioning parts in the market. Specifically, the Mercedes Benz AC Condenser is provided in the industry for the maintenance of the cooling system of a Mercedes Benz. One must always take necessary actions to preserve his Mercedes Benz’s quality of performance.

The aesthetic appeal and drive performance of each Mercedes Benz automobile are treated with the highest value so that these would work hand and hand to give its patrons the balance and synchronization needed in an automobile. Automotive parts of Mercedes Benz vehicles are incorporated with highly engineered concepts so that each would serve and function according to the Mercedes Benz standard of services and functions. And people openly appreciate it, no matter what age, or from what background---because Mercedes Benz understands a cool car, so they make them.

Sweat No More With Volvo Ac Compressor

When cold seasons are over, there is no need to shovel snow off front yards or wear layers upon layers of jackets, socks, and thermals. If people warm themselves up during cold days, chilling out is most sought-after when temperature rises. During these warmer days, air conditioners (AC) are of big help. Just as this cooling apparatus can be installed in houses, automobiles like Volvo are manufactured with air conditioners. Especially in tropical countries, a car air conditioner is a must.

In every car air conditioner, there is a component that plays a very important role. The Volvo AC Compressor is much like the human heart. Just like the vital human organ, an AC Compressor works as a pump. While the human heart pumps blood, an AC compressor pumps a cooling substance called refrigerant. As this device facilitates the circulation of the refrigerant in the cooling system, the hot and humid air inside the car is extracted and then dissipated as cold air. A car AC compressor is designed to aid the air conditioner in keeping the temperature constant inside a vehicle. A car air conditioner works as the AC compressor is driven by a pulley on the engine’s crankshaft. The AC compressor also makes use of an electric motor to facilitate air circulation inside the vehicle.

The world does not stop when temperature rises. Volvo owners are fortunate that their cars have been equipped with quality Volvo AC Compressors that optimize the cooling power of their air conditioners. With this auto part intact, driving is made comfortable and cooler even under the cruel heat of the sun.

Ac Condenser as an Aid for Proper Car Temperature

A good air conditioning system in vehicles makes for a sweat-free, comfortable ride especially during summer days. Pleasant ventilation is important so that fresh air is circulated inside a car. This is ensured by a vehicle’s AC system.

A vehicle’s AC system is made up of many components such as the compressor, evaporator, expansion valves, and condenser. These parts work together to swap the heat produced inside the car's cabin with a cooler air. The process occurs not in the cabin but under the car’s hood where the heat exchanges happen. The closed loop process of cooling the car begins with the compressor. The compressor obtains low-pressure refrigerant gas, usually freon, from the systems inlet area that includes the evaporator. This in turn discharges the water and impurities out of the air conditioning system. Inside the compressor, the refrigerant is pressurized and sent throughout the system to absorb heat. The hot refrigerant is then transferred to the key part of the air conditioning system's low pressure division, which is called the condenser. It is where the refrigerant is again cooled and changed into liquid form. Subsequently, the refrigerant returns to the evaporator, completing the closed cycle.

The AC condenser and the radiator share almost the same function and form, except for two differences. First, the AC condenser is smaller than the radiator. Another difference is that while the engine’s coolant remains in liquid state at all times, the AC system’s refrigerant must be converted in a gas to circulate throughout the car’s cabin. The AC condenser is usually mounted just under the car's grille, in front of the radiator. It takes advantage of the air flowing at this area. The radiator fan helps the AC condenser to cool the refrigerant more efficiently.

The AC condenser needs regular inspection to know if the temperature it supplies becomes irregular. Just like the radiator, the AC condenser is exposed to extreme working conditions. Thus, appropriate maintenance or replacement is needed whenever this car component is malfunctioning.

Automotive AC Machines

As any mechanic knows, the ability to offer a comprehensive service to customers, being able to offer repairs and care for all aspects of a motor vehicle maintenance program is key to being able to retain customers. Air Conditioning is more or less standard across all models these days, and while in the past, AC maintenance was a highly skilled and niche market, it is now an essential side of the business and key to any workshop's continued success.

In order to ensure that refrigerant is recovered properly from a car's air conditioning system during servicing, a workshop must use an automotive AC machine. These devices prevent the release through venting of CFC gases. EPA guidelines require that when a car is being serviced, the Freon, or CFC12 that is used as the coolant should be collected and recycled in order that it is not released into the environment where it can potentially damage the ozone layer.

The refrigerant used in most motor vehicle air conditioning systems is based on chlorofluorocarbons, which have been linked with causing damage to the ozone layer, and as such, the control of these substances is of particular concern to the environmental protection agency. Whenever a car air conditioning system undergoes maintenance, proper care must be taken to protect the environment from the release of CFCs, and this is best done by using automotive AC Machines.

By reusing Freon gas rather than allowing it to be vented into the atmosphere, the environment is protected. However, when the refrigerant is collected from a car's air conditioning it can be contaminated with water, oil and any of the other liquids that are used in cars. By using automotive AC machines, it is possible to process the refrigerant and remove any of the other fluids from it, allowing it to be reused, either in the same system as it has been drained from, or alternatively, in another car altogether.

There are a whole range of different refrigerant recovery machines on the market to suit all types of workshop, from small operations through to large commercial garages that deal with many different types of car, and need to be able to offer a complete service to clients.

Choosing the right automotive AC machines for your needs can be a daunting task, and too many people simply opt for the cheapest model available, rather than making an informed decision about the best product for their needs. EPA requirements aside, the most important factor when choosing the correct automotive AC machine for your business, is the capacity of the machine to deal with the range of vehicles that you currently work on. You need to choose a machine that can connect easily with all the different types of car that your workshop deals with, and which has enough capacity to recover and treat the refrigerant left in the system to remove any impurities.

Basic automotive AC machines such as the Pro Set Oiless Portable Recovery Recycle Unit are flexible enough to reprocess coolant from a fairly wide range of sources, remove any contaminating oils and other liquids, and release the Freon in perfect condition for reuse.

There are other machines in a similar price bracket that are reliable enough for every day use, and yet still compact enough not to require a vast amount of space in your workshop. Automotive AC Machines such as the Inficon Vortex refrigerant recovery machine are ideally suited to occasional use, and are very compact.

If offering AC repairs and servicing is key to your business, then having the right tools for the job is essential. Getting it right at the beginning when you choose an AC coolant recovery machine often means choosing a model from the Cool Tech range. These robust and highly regarded specialist tools are at the centre of any serious AC shop, and thanks to their efficiency and great value for money, will pay for themselves over and over again.

One-Man Brake Fluid Bleeding on an Early Evo-DSM

A bit of a how-to for you folks out there with an early Evo (and also 1G/2G DSM). There aren't too many guides on how to bleed/change brake fluid on these cars alone and, although the procedures are fairly similar between cars, a specific guide is also helpful. I will write up a 2-man version in the near future, but the one-man procedure is very simple to follow. Don't want to be condescending in this guide but I'm going to try and explain everything as simply as I can. I want this guide to be as user-friendly as possible.

Your brake system is an enclosed system but it can get air bubbles in it sometimes, and through hard braking the brake fluid can boil, causing it to become much less effective. I would recommend bleeding or indeed flushing the whole system every 6 to 12 months. I will give instructions on how to bleed the system, and then give some additional info about flushing the system at the end. Brake fluid is also hydroscopic, which means it absolutely loves water and absorbs it, making it much less effective. For this reason, when you put new brake fluid into the system it is much better to use fluid straight out of an unopened container. Additionally, it's best not to do this procedure when it's raining or damp.

Right, onto business. First thing are the things you need for this, and fortunately you don't need any specialist tools. But you will need the following:

Wheel brace (my wheel nuts are 21mm but yours may be different. Most likely you have this already)

Jack

10mm wrench

60cm of rubber tubing, 5mm inside diameter and preferably see-through

Small container (a old jar or something will do)

Brake fluid, DOT 4 or DOT 5.1 if you are a big-spender

With all those things ready, let's get to it.

  1. Go to the passenger side rear wheel and loosen the wheel nuts a little. Do not remove the wheel nuts at this stage though.
  2. Jack up the car and take the wheel off.
  3. Just behind the brake caliper you should see a small metal nipple sticking out. That's your brake bleeder nipple. It might have a plastic cap on it (my front two nipples did). If that is the case then pull it off and put one end of the hosing onto it.
  4. Fill your small container about 1/4 full of brake fluid and insert the other end of the rubber hose into it.
  5. Take your wrench and unscrew the 10mm nut around the bleeder nipple. One full turn anti-clockwise should do it.
  6. Now go to your engine bay and open the cap to the brake fluid reservoir. Make sure the reservoir is filled with brake fluid.
  7. Go inside the car and pump the brake pedal slowly and firmly. About 5-8 pumps should do.
  8. Head back out to passenger side rear wheel and have a look at the hosing. You're looking for air bubbles, or hopefully a lack of them. If you see no air bubbles, congratulations! You can tighten the bleeder nut again, pull off the rubber hosing and move on. If there are bubbles, check there is still brake fluid in the reservoir and pump the brakes again a few times. Keep doing this until there are no more air bubbles. Make sure the brake fluid reservoir does not empty; if it does then air will start entering the system.
  9. Put wheel back on, hand-tighten the wheel nuts and bring the car back down. Tighten the wheel nuts with the brace and move on. If your jar of brake fluid starts to get full when you've finished a wheel, empty it down to 1/4 full according to your country's rules for disposing of brake fluid.

And that's all there is to it! The next wheel you should jack up is the driver's side front, followed by the driver's side rear, and finally the passenger side front. When you've done all four, make sure the brake fluid reservoir is filled up to the max level on the side and the top is screwed on securely.

So that's the procedure for bleeding the brakes. In order to flush the system, it's an almost identical procedure. Just bleed an entire reservoir of fluid through the system for each brake. Once again, make sure the reservoir is never completely empty. For this you'll probably need 1-1.5l of brake fluid.

I think that covers everything. If this has helped you or you have any questions, do let me know. Will try to write more of these guides if people tell me what they want to read.

A Toyota Corolla Extended Warranty Can Save You From Thousands of Dollars of Future Repairs

Even though they are more problem free than most other makes and models, a Toyota Corolla extended warranty is a wise choice for those who have purchased this popular Japanese car. That is because despite its track record, you could end up with thousands of dollars in repairs down the road.

When you purchase a vehicle, it will come with a warranty from the manufacturer which covers you should any problems arise in a certain number of years or a certain number of miles. Typically, you will receive a 3 year or a 36,000 mile coverage plan.

However, the way cars are built today, chances are you will own the vehicle much longer than 3 years, and you can easily surpass 36,000 miles in a little over two years with regular driving. That's why Toyota Corolla extended warranties are a must for anyone who purchases one of these vehicles.

You might be saying: "I've done a lot of research on Corollas and other Toyota models and customer satisfaction and repair records far surpass those of most other manufacturers...why would I need to worry?"

Well the answer is, even one repair that your Corolla needs after that original manufacturer's warranty is up could cost you several thousand dollars...just one repair! A Toyota Corolla extended warranty protects you from any mechanical problems that happen down the road, so you never have to worry about any out of pocket expenses. Even Japanese cars break down from time to time, and the Toyotas are no exception.

So definitely look into an extended auto warranty if you plan to have the vehicle for more than three years. You're essentially covering yourself in case of any problems that you encounter after the original warranty expires...and it happens sooner than you think.

Here's what to look for when it comes to Toyota Corolla extended warranties:

1. Don't buy an extended car warranty at the dealership. They will try to talk you into it as it is a big money maker for them. However, they are just middlemen, and you can save a lot of money going directly to the warranty provider.

2. Make sure you're covered for both wear and tear and mechanical breakdown. If the policy just covers one or the other, it is not enough coverage. Make sure your plan will cover any expenses that arise as a result of mechanical failure or regular wear and tear on the vehicle.

3. Definitely get your Toyota Corolla extended warranty from a reputable provider. Look for an experienced, financially stable company, with years in the industry, that is well-equipped to handle your claims. You need to be aware of who you are dealing with.

4. Get your extended auto warranty as soon as possible. The longer you wait, the more it will cost as the car becomes less coverable as it ages.

5. Don't just buy a policy because it is cheap. As with most things in life, you get what you pay for. However, you can save significantly by going directly to the provider rather than buying it at the dealership.

So there you have it. If you're interested in a Toyota Corolla extended warranty, keep these tips in mind when looking for a provider. Peace of mind comes with having the right coverage for your vehicle.

Check Engine Lights - What They Do and Don't Mean

It is Monday morning and you are already late for work. You hop in the car, "slightly" speed down the road to the freeway and...get in line for rush hour traffic. While you're mumbling to yourself, you hear a ding and look at your dash. Great, the check engine light has come on. Just great!

The check engine light is the one glowing part of the dashboard that can make grown men weep like babies. This is due to the historical meaning of the light. When the check engine light first started appearing on the dashboard of cars, it was a harbinger of doom. When it lit up, it usually meant there was something severely wrong with the car and it was going to cost a bundle to get it fixed. Fortunately, this is not always the case any longer.

Modern cars have become fairly complex. With complexity has come a certain dumbing down of weekend mechanics. Put another way, most of us don't work on our cars anymore besides the odd washing and perhaps oil change. There check engine light has thus evolved into a sort of idiot light. When it goes on now, it can mean the car has a major problem or it can just be minor. I was driving around in my Mini Cooper recently and notice the light on. After creating a load of new curse words, I dropped by the mechanic. The problem? The gas cap was not on tight. It cost me a few bucks for the diagnosis and most of my pride to get it fixed, but that was all!

The modern check engine light works in a unique way. It doesn't refer to any specific part of the car. It will not tell you the right front brake caliper is shot because you drive like a maniac on that one windy road by your home. Nope. All it does is notice there is a problem with the diagnostic circuit for the front right brake or suspension area. When you take it in, the mechanic will read the error code on the computer and then take a look at that area of the car to see if there is a problem.

How do you know if the check engine light means you have a loose gas cap versus an engine that is about to explode? Well, you don't really. Still, you don't have to worry. The check engine light isn't really the indicator of major problems anymore. Instead, most modern cars have a fail safe system of some sort. This system monitors the car for major problems. If the system determines your engine is going to blow because you haven't added oil in seven years, it will activate and do something that is pretty ingenious - it will turn off the car! Yes, you actually lose your right to drive the car!

The check engine light is something you must head if it goes on. When it inevitably does, check your dials and brakes to make sure everything seems to be working. If everything looks okay, you can drive it to the mechanic. If something is obviously wrong, pull over and call for a tow truck. Don't let a small repair become a big one because you continued to drive the car.

Rattle and Roll - Fixing Squeaks Inside Your Car

Your car may have a soul in your opinion, perhaps an evil one even, but it is definitely a mechanical device. With all the components now crammed into it, sooner or later there are going to be squeaks. To take the "rattle" out of your rattle and rolling down the road, let's take a look at how to get rid of squeaks in the driver's area.

A squeak in the interior of your car can drive you absolutely crazy. It may not be that loud. It may not even be that grating. The problem is it is always there. You can't escape it. Like the sound of fingernails scraping down a chalkboard, it will slowly drive you insane. You must fight back! Fortunately, it is fairly easy.

The interior of your car looks very organized and efficient. To some extent it is. From another point of view, however, it is closer to the clean room of a teenage boy - you really don't want to open the closet door! Well, your dashboard is the metaphorical closet door. Down around your feet and up under the dash are a host of components crammed in every different manner. As the car interior heats up and cools down every day, these components can move about. It is in this general area that you'll find your squeaks.

The first area to take a look at involves any moving parts. The pedals for your feet often start to squeak. There pedals connect to hinges near the top and these hinges need to be lubricated from time to time. Because the hinges are up under the dash from the point of view of the driver as he sits down, it sounds like there is a squeak under the dashboard. Go ahead and lubricate the pedal hinge points even if you don't hear a squeak. It might just go away.

Now comes the really scary part for any man. Pull...out...the...owner's...manual. I know this is difficult. Feel free to close the garage door, turn out the lights and read by camera light so nobody sees you. Why the owner's manual? Well, many modern cars actually require that you occasionally lubricate some aspect of the interior of your car. The manual will actually have a section on it. Now, the people that write owner's manuals think in a very odd manner, so you might have to search around for it. If you can find the note, however, they'll often lead you right to your problem area.

Finally, you can take the car to a mechanic. I don't advise this. The mechanic is going to do exactly what I've written above, so why pay for it? With very little elbow grease, you can save a buck or two and find the problem yourself.

Car Ramps - Worth Every Penny When Working on Your Car

More and more car owners are choosing to work on their cars instead of taking them in for repairs given the rather dire economic turn of events. If you are or intend to join the group, allow me to give you a tip - buying ramps is well worth the money spent.

The average automobile has come a long way in the last 20 years. You used to be able to pop the hood on a car and find enough space for you to practically stand in the engine area. In the 50s and 60s, people used to actually sit in the engine compartment to work on their cars. Those days are long gone. Pop the hood now and it can be shocking. Every inch of the engine compartment is crammed to the hilt with components.

The lack of space makes it difficult to work on your car. Designers apparently assumed anyone working on the car would have arms that were really thin and had 20 joints in them! Obviously, that's not the case. The real truth is most cars are supposed to be worked on from the bottom up. This is why mechanics have those lifts. You probably can't afford them, but car ramps are an inexpensive alternative that will make your life a lot easier.

Car ramps are exactly what they sound like. There are two of them. They are designed like right triangles with a fairly gentle slope. You figure out where you want to work on your car. It should be a flat surface! You then drive the car half way into the area. Line up the ramps in front of each tire and then slowly drive the car up on the ramps. Park it, put the parking brake on, place something behind the rear tires to brace them and you are ready to go.

Why are car ramps so great? Most cars sit fairly low to the ground. You can slide in under them, but actually working on the car can be a pain because your forearm tends to be longer than the vertical space between the ground and the engine components. To actually do anything, you have to sort of slide off to the side and angle your arm towards the component. The advantage is you can work on the component. The disadvantage is you can't see what you are doing. While you think you are loosing the oil plug, you actually are removing the fuel filter and that just ain't good news!

Your car ramps solve these problems. Most ramps will lift the car a couple feet of the ground. That doesn't sound like much, but it makes a world of difference. You can actually see and work on components without trying to bend yourself like a gymnast at the Olympics. At the same time, the engine components are not too far away from your hands.

Money spent on car ramps is money well spent if your weekend includes getting under the car. Make sure to give them a look.

Seized Car Auctions Are a Bargain Hunters Dream

With all of the economic problems that have been going on in the last couple of years, the number of people who are having their cars repossessed by banks or seized by state and federal government agencies, like the IRS, is on the rise. This means that there are also more seized car auctions happening all the time and attending used car auctions is becoming more commonplace and is increasingly becoming a good way for people to save money when they need to get another car.

When people get behind on their car payments, it is common for the lending institution to take back the vehicle, especially if there is no way for the person to get caught up on missed loan payments. The result is that the larger banks, credit unions and finance companies are often overflowing with repossessed cars and seized cars that they need to sell through a seized car auction.

A variety of different government agencies, from the local level to the federal level, have the authority to seize vehicles and place them in seized car auctions. These seizures occur when someone owes a lot of money to the IRS, or when the vehicle was involved in a crime, or when it was bought illegally with drug money.

When lending institutions, banks, police departments, and various federal agencies end up with a growing number of cars that have been seized or repossessed, they ultimately spend a lot of money to store these vehicles. In most cases, the people from whom the cars were seized have either no recourse at all for getting the vehicle back or a short window of opportunity to get the vehicle back before the agency has the right to sell it off. If there is no longer any chance of the person being able to reclaim the vehicle, then it can be sold through a seized car auction, which the agencies prefer to do as soon as possible to minimize their storage expenses.

In many cases, a seized car auction can be a bargain hunters dream, enabling them to save hundreds, or even thousands of dollars, on a wide variety of cars, truck, vans, recreational vehicles, and even boats and other recreational sports vehicles. These seized, motor car auctions provide people with terrific opportunities to get a better quality vehicle than they might otherwise have been able to afford. For those who are really lucky, they could be driving away with their dream car after only paying one quarter to one half of the amount that they might have paid, had they gone to a regular dealership.

Before attending seized car auctions you need to be sure to do some homework first. If you have a particular model in mind, then do some research to find out what the fair market value is. It is a good idea not to start bidding at the first used car auction you attend, but instead, watch the proceedings so that you can get a feel for the general buying environment and gain an understanding of how the entire car auto auction process works.

What is the Defensive Driver Training About?

When you get behind the wheel of your car, it is important to realize that you cannot just mosey along and forget about what is going on around you. You must be responsible enough to remain alert and watch the many drivers around you. People who do not do this cause accidents each year, some resulting in fatalities. Many driving classes include defensive driver training to help new drivers, and sometimes experienced ones, to become more aware of the importance of defensive driving.

Anybody can take defensive driving courses that are offered at most traffic schools. In order to avoid losing points caused by driving violations, most states in the US have provided a defensive driving course that can be taken in a classroom setting or at an online defensive driving school. Drivers who undergo this type of training were once required to be present in such schools; however, these days, online courses are readily available. Generally, it simply requires the discipline and proper mindset of the driver.

A defensive driver knows that he should be more careful and watchful on the road. Although this sounds easy, learning how to drive defensively demands a lot of practice until the driver finally realizes what proper driving is all about. Drivers are somewhat expected to be already aware of the basics of it even before he or she tries to learn defensive driving.

Defensive driving is about knowing and understanding the proper, safety defensive driving techniques. Once this is achieved, drivers are able to better predict or identify possible dangers on the roads and take immediate actions that are needed in particular situations.

However, defensive driver training also involves forgetting about bad habits that you have developed. Participating in this defensive activity equates to having the willpower to learn new, safer habits. Another part of defensive driving means learning the basic parts of the car. Modern driving courses do a good job of familiarizing a driver with these parts, but the driver should be comfortable with the inner workings of their own vehicle so that they are not fumbling for anything when they should be concentrating on the road.

Additionally, they should practice an ease of movement with the car's different parts; that way, the driver can easily reach for them in cases of emergencies. Any driver should at least take the time to undergo a defensive driver training in one of the many traffic schools available. This is very important so as to avoid dangers when one is on the road. With so many courses today, finding the right one that suits your needs and wants is not as difficult as it used to be!

Enrich your knowledge further about the defensive driver training from Mike Selvon portal. We appreciate your feedback at our defensive driving on line blog where a free gift awaits you

Truck Tents

Truck tents are meant to fit at the back of a regular family truck and are simply a great choice if convenience is all that the user is looking for. Perfect for a road trip or even for an undisturbed weekend in the woods, truck tents have evolved with the rising need of travelers and adventurers who seek a quick bohemian escapade. Truck tents can be customized according to the kind of truck the user owns. Some tents are built in order to fit on top of any truck and therefore come with a hefty price tag attached.

Meant to be extremely durable, truck tents are usually available in nylon and polyurethane and also come in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors. They are mostly windproof as well as waterproof, but using these tents in a monsoon-like climate wouldn't be a good bet.

Light in weight, these tents are usually designed to fit two adults. Some even vouch for space that can fit two adults as well as two children. Whatever the case, the most significant drawback (if it can be called a drawback at all) that a truck tent has, would be the space. Even if a particular truck tent is built for four people, it would usually mean four people cramped within their sleeping bags with hardly any space to move. However, the ones designed for two people are a shade better since they generally tend to have some extra room, at least for a duffel bag.

Truck tents mostly have mesh windows for proper ventilation and some even come with great accessories like a changing room, a soft foam mattress (that can be inflated and deflated at will), pillows, mosquito nets and even a ladder. Placed firmly on a roof rack, they keep the vehicle cool since the roof is not exposed to direct sunlight. However, the mounting straps of a truck tent may damage the body of the truck and so utmost care should be taken while it is installed at the back of the vehicle.

In spite of such drawbacks, truck tents are the first choice amongst travelers who cherish their freedom. It is the best possible option if one wants to stop in the middle of a cross country ride and camp anywhere one wants to.

While choosing camp tents, there are a few things that should be remembered carefully. Besides his budget, the potential buyer must consider the size and capacity of his truck. Some truck tents have sewn in floors while others have no floors at all. In case of a sewn in floor, things have to be unloaded from the truck bed before the tent is installed. Tents without floors thus, are easier to install and clean.

The fact however remains that be it a truck tent with a sewn in floor or a tent with no floor, truck tents are a wonderful travel accessory that breeds a race of travelers who don't mind spending a night in the middle of nowhere, preferring to get lost in the wilderness.

Car Insurance Policies

Car insurance policies are meant for insuring risk on an automobile. Car insurance provides financial security for any kind of damage to self, or others, or the car, caused by a motor vehicle.

Car insurance provides protection against the cost of purchasing a new car if the old one is destroyed in a fire or stolen (comprehensive coverage); cost of repairing the car when damaged in an accident (collision coverage); cost of medical expenses and lost wages related to ownership, use and maintenance of an automobile (personal injury protection-PIP); cost of medical expenses that are not covered by PIP (medical payments -MP); and the cost of a claim against the driver of owner of the car when it causes damage to a third party (legal liability claims).

In many countries, auto insurance is mandatory for anyone driving on public roads. Liability coverage is also mandatory. However, liability insurance is not applicable when the policyholder drives any other vehicle except his/her own.

In some countries, premiums for car insurance are priced according to several risk factors, like the characteristics of the car, the usage of the car (predicted annual distance driven), the coverage selected (limit, deductible, covered perils), credit rating, driving history, age and sex of the driver. Car insurance plans can also have a flat rate, irrespective of the usage of the car. Other methods used to fix the rates are: reasonable estimation, odometer-based systems, GPS-based systems, OBDII-based systems and more.

The main aspects to be considered while buying car insurance are: coverage, policy limits per person, policy limits per accident, and liabilities like bodily injury liability, property damage liability etc. While choosing a company, look for: any complaints filed with the state insurance commissioner, payment practices of the company and other aspects like denial of medical payments, denying the customer right to arbitration in UIM claims and use of credit scoring to set premiums.

There are hundreds of insurance companies that are offering attractive deals on all kinds of car insurance. You can contact an insurance agent for getting the right car insurance policy. The internet is also a very good source for obtaining quotes, comparing various policies and deciding on the best one.

Auto Insurance Companies

Cost is undoubtedly a bid consideration when choosing an auto insurance company, but you should not base your decision on cost alone. Don’t be fooled by very low rates – some of these companies offer limited coverage, below-standard customer support and some of them may even be scams.

Unlike traditional yellow pages, Internet directories can give you the most relevant results record-breaking time. Some sites let you search auto insurance companies within certain locations – just enter your zip code and you can have ready access to all the car insurance providers near you.

Don’t be fooled by low insurance rates – you need to look past the price and into coverage that matters the most. Carefully study coverage extent, the length of time it takes to process claims and extras such as free towing or road assistance. Customer support is also extremely important – you want an auto insurance company that can give you maximum support whether online or over the phone. To test if an auto insurance company has a good client support team, try calling their toll free numbers. Assess the competence of their representatives by asking them specific questions about polices. They should be able to answer you to your satisfaction, or at least refer you to someone with better knowledge.

Referrals are the best way to reach a reliable auto insurance company. Ask your friends and relatives what company they use, and ask them if they are satisfied. If your friends and relatives recommend a certain car insurance company, it is probably worth considering.

Why becomes a soccer bettor one may ask? Where it is considered a negative occupation where it is often regarded as non productive, immoral behaviour. well as for every other thing everything there is the pros n cons.if you able to use it to your advantage it could be becomes your full-time occupation or a second income. morever, soccer betting is a big thriving business where it is prevalent throughout the worldBy the use of statistics, experience and practice, an astute gambler can consistently beat the posted odds .however to do so one must behave in a manner consistent with success. one thing a successful bettor must do is to continually learn.

Handicapping

There is no single method that is considers the best method, everyones tackles the soccer problem differently, one thing for sure is the harder one works intelligently and practically and the more experience he has the more positive results he will realised.

Objective approach

The use of statistic to help the bettor to determine his picks. It should be noted that statistic are fundemental but its how they are used that makes the difference between winning and losing. however if everyone comes to the same conclusions the oddsmaker could still eliminate any advantages by adjusting the line to keep everyone guessing. either way it is to the bookies advantage.

Subjective approach

After yrs of handicapping the sub-conscious mind help the bettor to finalise his picks. when he starts to win the bettor will get carried away however if his results turns negative his emotions and his mind will short virtually making the bettor ineffective. it is extremely important the bettor at this time knows to hold back and observe for his form to pick up before betting again.

Trends

It should be noted that the best trends are those that are unique, valid and relatively unknown. any seasoned soccer bettor knows that once the trend becomes too popular the linesmen will adjust the line to leave people lost. when using trends you should notice whether it is getting stronger and weaker?

Bankroll mangement

Definition-the amount of money you set aside for betting and not hose for paying bills, groceries or money even when lost would not cause much unbalance in the bettors life.

How much to bet per game?

I would suggest 5% of your bankroll to be used for betting and not to bet more than 3 matches per day, reason because its very difficult to pick winners for every match and the most likely results are you will have a few winners and a few losers resulting in minimal bankroll growth which is the most likely results or worse lose all the bets which is highly possible. Another very important reason for this is you are able to gauage more accurately how much you will lose should you indeed lose.

Summary

To begin with, one must understands what he is up against, there is no method or systems that could contiunues to win every game , everyday, every week , month or year. good consistent handicapping means selecting more winners than losers. in order to be a successful bettor one must give lots of thoughts to why is the results this way ?and is there any reason behind it. when you manage to reveal the meaning behind it it is the time you feed back on the fat cow(bookmaker).

Soccer forum

I have seen a great prevalence use of soccer forums where soccer bettors post their picks. it is often noted that a lot of beginners try to note down those tipsters who is in hot form meaning those posting the corrects picks and then bet big following them .i strongly discourage people from doing so cause they were betting their hard earn money on people whom they never even meet or know and blindly follows theirs picks .this is very unhealthy why? cause the bettors himself have failed to come out with his own picks ,where he could be learning from his own mistakes and who knows those that are in the forum might be bookies themselves posting picks to lure the ignorant ones to be hooked.

Getting prepared mentally

One should be prepared mentally for losing and winnings cause either way it would lead to what I call a gambling syndrome. when the bettors keeps winnings he will be feeling over the moon during his hot streats and starts spending money like he is a king overnite however once he starts hitting the rough patch he will be losing sleeps if he bet a very substantial amount or can't concentrate in his work. this is very unhealthy and how to curb this problem?By following a systematic money-management programs.

Is it possible to strike rich in a very short period say 1 month? It is possible for a soccer bettor to strike rich but that is provided he is extremely lucky during that month and makes more than 60% corrects picks and of those correct picks are those he bets bigs and the remainder 40% lossess are those he bets small. however one knows that what goes up must come down and the winners are those who are able to tide over the rough patch and then starts winning back when his form is back

Is it important to know all about the soccer team , soccer players statistic n does that makes me a better soccer better?

The answer is no cause soccer betting arena is a place where the booksmakers earns their money if by knowing every details could make you rich then all the soccer writers, soccer magazines editors are the ones who are driving big cars and living in big houses.

What makes a true soccer bettor an expert?

The ability to convert a given bankroll into profits based on practical bankroll management program and against some standard of odds and over a large number of games and over a period of time.

How to become a true soccer expert?

1. He should keep a record of all that days opening odds and closing odds. 2. print out the each respective wide table. 3. Write down the score 4. reason why the results to be this way and is there any trends. of course in order to look for particular trends you need soccer records. 5. keep meticulous and honest records of his play decisions and their results. this will teach him his strength and weakness. 6. learn how to bet on his own handicapping in order to realize the greatest profit. he then must discipline his action and play in respect of this plan in order to get the best results. 7. learn how to tackle his emotions as well as personal problems out of his decisions. if this becomes too difficult he should stop playing. 8. be constantly on the alert to make changes to his handicapping methods and techniques. 9. set up a plan of action for bankroll management and stick diligently to it.

Does soccer betting involves luck?

Answer: no, cause soccer results is preplanned meaning before the matches starts the results is already out. If you have been betting soccer for a period of time and keeping soccer records deligiently you would have discovered a trend and realized that its a cycle.

So which leagues are you gd in?

for each people they they dwell in different leagues for me I specialize in only 4 leagues namely EPL, Italy serieA , Spanish primera and german bundesliga.

How to tackle soccer cups and normal weekend domestic league?

There are lots of soccer matches throughout the soccer season and the techniques involves in dealing with different matches differs differently and at different timing of the season.

Does the bookmaker lose money?

ANS : yes there are times but seldom. bookmakers lose money then the strong team win throughout the tournamnet eg euro2000 but that is short-term loss. They will continues to win the soccer punters money as long as there are soccer matches. Why? Cause there will be different opionions from different soccer punters just the vigourish/water money alone is able to cover their losses and that is excluding fixed match where they win even more. Another useful tool they are armed with is they understands that all gamblers have a common weakness. They bet bigger and bigger when winning and bets even bigger to chase their loss when losing.in either case it is to the bookmakers edge.

Contary to the belief of many where they think they are winning the bookmakers money , it is the other soccer punters ie, their friend's money whom they are winning.the only way to bust the bookmaker/bookies is not to bet or share part of the pie the bookmaker is having.

Soccer cups

There are namely a few more popular ones are uefa cup, uefa champions league, league cup, fa cup, worthington cup, international friendlies, Italian cup, Spanish cup.

Why is it important to do a form analysis on oneself?

It is because people when they are in a winning streats they tend to win more frequent cause I find that it got to do with ones confidence level. they becomes not afraid to lose and I believes that if one believe in himself strongly he will perform much better than one who is afraid of losing.

Betting strategy

Overview- When you do keep records you could trace your own form and make adjustment from there.

Flat betting strategy

This is the strategy I use when I am determining which way my form is going. up or down. Another reason to test out new leagues where I'm unfamiliar.

PROS - this strategy would produce a even amt of risk for money wagered but however if you are able to pick on the right team you could earn a average profit, CONS -but due to the water money and the increase in the no.of bets before you could see a tidy handsome profit this will constitue to be the downside.

Progressive betting strategy

I adopt the progressive betting strategy method which is to multiply my previous winnings by 0.5 and use it for the next bet which is the strategy I adopt when my form are good.ie when 3 or more wins consecutively. Reason why? There is a Chinese saying "hit the iron while its hot" which I find it to be very true cause there are many opportunities in soccerbetting where if you are able to recognize it and bet bigger than usual, PROS- there is a potential higher return rate then if you flat bet.CONS-when you do adjust your bet amt you are relatively exposing yourself to more risk this is the tradeoff where you could lose potentially more.

Reduced betting strategy

When do you adopt this is when you have been picking the wrong team all the time example say 3 straight lose which is very common caused I realized that this is the time where people starts to bet big to chase their loss. this is very wrong caused when one is down on luck or the bookmaker has adjusted the line to confuse the bettor they should stay calm n reduced their bets or not bet at all.PROS- reduced money lost and try to minimize serious damage to original bankroll.CONS-if the picks do win you could not cover back your previous loss due to reduction in wager.this is the trade-off.

Why is it important to find the right time frame before u bet and does it make a difference?

It is important because if now you are in a losing streats it is best to control oneself before you jump into it and wack hard to chase back your lossess most likely you will lose .it is best to make own prediction first and see if your form is back if it is slowly getting back now is time to jump in cause once you run out of bullets during your losing streats it is very difficult to fight back.

The Secret of El Salvador - Terrific Beaches Just Minutes From a Major Airport

If airlift is the key to the second home door, then El Salvador is the best bargain on the street. It may look like a fixer upper because of the country's history with hurricanes, earthquakes, war and poverty but its main airport - now the hub of all of Central America soon will be hosting more than 2.5 million passengers a year - is 20 minutes from the region's Costa del Sol and some of the finest beaches on the West Coast. If there is one single amenity that drives second half traffic it is waterfront property and El Salvador has 200 miles of Pacific Ocean coastline that few North Americans have ever seen, let alone researched for a real estate purchase.

El Salvador, from the Spanish word "The Savior", is bordered by Guatemala on the west, by Honduras at the north, by Nicaragua and the Gulf of Fonseca on the East, and by the Pacific Ocean on the South. It is the smallest country in Central America, and has the highest density of population in the region and has the second largest U.S. Embassy in the world. The distance between San Salvador and neighbor capital cities of Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua is about the same (4-hour drive). Approximately 70 percent of the regional commerce is concentrated in these four countries.

TACA International Airlines, owned by a Salvadorian family, operates about 65 percent of all the traffic in and out of the El Salvador International Airport also known as Comalapa International Airport. TACA, which is expanding its hub in El Salvador, provides non-stop service to San Salvador from Toronto, New York, Washington, D.C., Miami, Los Angeles and Chicago and recently purchased a string of regional carriers that will provide additional flights within Central America and the Caribbean. Delta (Atlanta), United, Continental (Houston) and American also provide direct flights to the country's capital city.

Compared to U.S. coastal communities, homes in El Salvador are an absolute bargain. For example, Joan Rich Mantecón, a San Francisco Bay-area Realtor who specializes in international second homes (www.internationaldwellings.com), had listed for sale a five-bedroom, three-bathroom home on the beach at Playa San Diego, south of La Libertad, in May, 2007. This fully air-conditioned house had been painted inside and out in 2004, had two swimming pools and Jacuzzi, a five-room servant-renter quarters, large gazebo for hammocks, outdoor BBQ and enough room to park five cars in the backyard. This property is 20 minutes away from the airport and also 20 minutes away from Santa Tecla where there is a Costco and various malls. There's a seafood restaurant on the beach only steps away and the home's caretakers live across the street. Price? $325,000.

Romeo MI Real Estate - Strategies for Buying and Selling Homes Even With Bruised Credit Or No Equity

Currently the median price for a home in the Romeo MI real estate listings is $229,900. Right now the prices for homes in the Romeo Michigan real estate listings start at $73,500. That's a two bedroom condo that may not last long.

If you are interested in buying Romeo Michigan real estate, but have past credit issues, and can't get bank financing, you should know that solutions exist you may not be aware of.

On the other hand, if you already own Romeo MI real estate, but need to sell your home quickly, because of a job transfer, to avoid foreclosure or for other reasons, there are strategies you may not know.

Both of these will be discussed later in this article.

Historic Romeo Michigan Real Estate: A Bit of History

The village was named by the wife of Nathanial Taylor, who helped with the lay out in the early 1800's. During those years, Romeo Academy and the Romeo branch of the University of Michigan opened. The many examples of 19th century architecture led the state and the federal government to list the village as a historic district in 1970.

Timber originally attracted settlers to the area and many wealthy families resided in the village. Some of their stately mansions survive to this day, often restored by Metro Detroit commuters. Right now, in the Romeo MI real estate classifieds, there is a four bedroom Greek Revival home that was built in or around 1856. The asking price is $599,900.

Downtown

The downtown district never suffered from fire or other damage and many of the buildings have original tin ceilings dating to the Civil War era. The cornerstone for the Congregational Church, which plays a nightly carillon selection, was laid in 1876. War heroes, pioneers and prominent citizens are buried in the Village Cemetery on West St. Clair Street.

Residents are proud of the historical value of Romeo Michigan real estate and value their original Victorian village, with it's tree lined streets and brick inlay sidewalks. Looking down Main Street, the view has changed little since 1910, as can be seen from photos donated to the Romeo historical society.

The main changes are that cable cars no longer run through town and antique stores, ice cream shoppes, restaurants and retail businesses now occupy the buildings. Modern upgrades are mostly hidden. You may feel that you have stepped on to the set of “Our Town” as you walk or drive through the one square mile that composes the village.

Facts & Figures

At the last census, nearly 4000 people lived in the two square miles covered by the Romeo MI real estate market. The village is about 32 miles north of Detroit, with portions lying in Bruce and Washington townships. To the east is Armada Township and to the southeast is Ray township.

Romeo is known for the yearly Peach Festival, which is held over Labor Day weekend. The village is noted as being the hometown of Kid Rock, Stoney Burke and Barbara Bourgeau Richards. The village government provides many services to residents including its own water and sewage system. Most of the region receives water and sewage services from the City of Detroit.

Buying & Selling

Currently there are only 40 homes for sale in the Romeo Michigan real estate classifieds, but many more are available in the surrounding communities.

The big secret if you're a potential buyer is: if you can afford to rent, you can probably afford to buy one of the homes in the Romeo Michigan real estate listings or at least somewhere nearby, even if you have bruised credit.

Interest rates are low, but qualifying is more difficult than it used to be. If you have been denied financing because of past credit issues or little established credit, then you need to buy on terms.

Some of the best terms to buy on are a rent to own basis (also called a lease option) or on a land contract. This means that the homeowner is acting as the bank and giving you seller financing. No bank qualifying upfront means you don't have to worry about getting the loan right away.

Then, while you are renting the property, you re-establish your credit so that at some point several months down the road you will be able to qualify for bank financing and cash the seller out of the house and become the new rightful owner.

If you already own Romeo MI real estate, but need to sell quickly, your solution is simply the flip side of the buyer coin: you sell your home on terms by offering seller financing. In Michigan there are many people with good jobs and can afford home ownership but because they've been banged around by the bad economy, have bumpy credit and can't get bank financing upfront.

Selling your home via a seller financing strategy opens your home to a much larger pool of buyers than you get by only selling your home to people with bank approvals in hand.

Too Much House?

First, let me tell you that mortgage debt is the only kind of debt I don’t yell about. I don’t borrow money – ever. But, I know most people won’t do the “100% Down Plan” when it comes to buying a home. So what are your options?

For those of you who are in debt (which is most of you), let me tell you what Sharon and I did. Nearly 20 years ago my wife, Sharon, and I hit the financial bottom because of our debt. We did an unpopular thing to help turn things around. After years of marriage and owning hundreds of pieces of real estate, we became renters. Normal mindset is that you should buy and not rent but remember normal is broke. All these years later, I can see that that was probably THE best sacrifice we made. We were able to pay off our debts and save money for a house.

Although that’s the smartest and safest route, if your heart is set on buying a home you can still do it wisely. But if you can’t pay cash for a house in full, how do you figure how much house is too much?

Take some time to sit down and do the math. Your mortgage payment should not be more than 25% of your take-home pay and you should get a 15-year or less fixed-rate mortgage. Notice I said a 15-year mortgage, not 30. Don’t be tempted by the smaller monthly payments of a 30-year mortgage. The truth is 30-year mortgages are for people who enjoy being in debt so much they want to extend it for 15 more years and pay thousands of dollars more in interest for the privilege!

Now, you can probably qualify for a much larger loan than what 25% of your take-home pay would give you. But it’s really not wise to spend more on a house because then you will be what I call “house poor.” Too much of your income would be going out in payments, and it will put a strain on the rest of your budget so you wouldn’t be saving and paying cash for furniture, cars and education.

The point is your house payments shouldn’t take over your budget. Don’t let your mortgage payments cause you major stress every month for years and years to come. Your dream home needs to be just that, a dream. You don’t want it turning into a financial nightmare.

EV Basics VI - Roadmap to an EV World

Important Acronyms:

EV: Electric Vehicle - Any vehicle that uses electricity to provide some or all of the power to its wheels.

HEV - Hybrid electric vehicle, a car or truck that uses both an ICE and an electric motor.

ICE: Internal Combustion Engine - The smog-belching, globe-warming automobile power plants used in the dark ages of the 20th Century.

PHEV - Plug-in hybrid vehicle, a hybrid vehicle with a battery pack that can be charged from a wall socket.

At this point, many of you have read the first five articles in the EV Basics series. Many of you are now convinced that EVs will be more convenient and cost effective than ICE-powered vehicles, once they are in mass-production. You understand that EVs are much better for the environment, despite millions of corporate dollars spent trying to convince you otherwise. You see the connection between our dependence on foreign oil and increased threats to our national security. Now, you want to know how to make EVs a reality as soon as possible.

We can get there in a reasonable time frame if we follow the guidelines I list below.

1. Do what you can, when you can

If you have roughly $100,000 of dollars to spare, you can order a wonderful electric car, the Tesla Roadster, today. They have already started delivering vehicles, so your wait should not be too long. For $30,000 less, you can order an eBox from AC Propulsion. Still too rich for your blood? Vectrix is now selling a wonderful, freeway-legal electric scooter for $11,000. Or, you can buy one of many electric bicycles available, starting at less than $1000.

Right now there are already electric vehicles available at almost every price point. If you cannot figure out how to fit one of them into your life, you can buy a new HEV, such as a Toyota Prius, for a bit more than $20,000 or a used one starting at about $10,000. Gasoline-powered HEVs are not the ultimate answer to our energy problems, but they do provide an excellent platform for developing EV components such as electric motors, batteries and transmissions. They also use much less gas than their ICE-only brethren.

More good news - there is a wave of EVs and PHEVs underdevelopment from companies such as Phoenix Motorcars, AFS Trinity, and a host of others. Additionally, Toyota recently announced that it is developing a plug-in version of the Prius with substantial electric-only range. The future of EVs is bright, so keep your eyes open and follow developments as they unfold.

Even if you cannot find an HEV that meets your needs, and you cannot wait for the new models to become available, you can help the cause by buying the most fuel-efficient car that will fit everything and everybody you need to haul. Doing so will show the car companies that you care about our over-use of oil, and that you do not care about having a car with as much power as a Formula One racer.

2. Be a voice for change

Write to the car companies and let them know you are going to hold off on buying a new car until they make an EV or PHEV. Addresses can be found in the third article in this series. Let your elected officials know you want EVs available ASAP. Speak out on blogs, e-mail lists, and at cocktail parties. Spread the word to all who will listen, and maybe even some who do not want to. Be polite but firm. Counter the misinformation that is being spread by those who do not want to see EVs succeed.

3. Keep an open mind

Some folks choose one favorite type of EV drivetrain layout, battery chemistry or body style, then start treating EV-enthusiasts with alternative ideas as though they were the enemy. Don't do that. Encourage others to think of new solutions to our transportation problems. Even if an idea seems silly at first, analyze it critically and discuss it with others to determine its merit.

Do not assume that companies which have made mistakes in the past, such as General Motors, cannot make important contributions to EV progress in the future. Encourage them to invest in EV development. Let GM know that you will buy a Volt if it turns out to be everything they say it will be. If the big automakers meet a brick wall of skepticism from potential EV buyers, they will use this resistance to try to convince lawmakers that EVs are not economically viable. If we greet their EV programs with hope and enthusiasm, their bean-counters will take note.

4. Don't just talk, act

Discussion is great, when it is a preamble to action. So, talk about things, develop a game plan, then go execute. Buy an EV or a PHEV. Find a job developing EVs or other alternative energy products. Move closer to work so you can commute on an electric bicycle. There are a million different things you can do to help make EVs a reality. Go pick a few and start doing.

5. Never, ever give up

Corporations are spending millions of advertising and PR dollars trying to convince you that everything is fine. Everything is not fine.

People who seem completely rational look at you like you are nuts when you tell them we must give up gasoline-powered cars. You are not nuts.

It would be so easy just to stop fighting the tide, to give in to the allure of "the easy life." Do not give in.

The easy life is an oil-fired illusion. We are like microbes on a Petri dish, consuming everything we can before our resources run out. However, unlike bacteria, we can recognize our situation and start conserving now, before it is too late. We can start using the energy the sun blasts down on this Petri dish called Earth so that we never run out of resources. Those of us who understand this have an obligation to keep trying to spread this understanding. Doing so can be an exhausting, frustrating, thankless job, but our planet - our children's planet - is depending on us to keep trying.

It Pays to Be a Defensive Driver - Literally

There are many different drivers on the road today. There are the aggressive, cautious, and defensive. There have been numerous articles endorsing the defensive driver from a safety perspective. This article aims to show the monetary benefits of driving this way.

With gas prices surpassing $4 a gallon and likely headed higher it is now evident that consumers will have to change their habits to cope with the increase costs. There are many solutions such as public transit, ride sharing, and biking. However not everyone can use these options and even when consolidating trips $4 + gas is going to effect the consumer.

While nothing can be done to assuage the increasing costs, the consumer can change the way they drive. I have read many tips for how to improve gas mileage and found that some have a significant impact while others are complete bunk. I have outlined the two biggest factors for increasing your cars mileage.

Maximum Speed:

Cars have an optimal operation speed. For many cars 55 mph is the fastest the car can travel while still providing efficient fuel economy. If you consistently drive 70 mph or 80 mph on the highway it is costing you more money.

Red Light / Green Light:

Have you seen that scene in Meet the Parents where Ben Stiller and Robert Dinero were flooring the car off each green light only to slam on their breaks right before a red light? This type of behavior puts stress on the engine and brakes, which will result in steep mechanic bills. Further this will give the driver the worst gas mileage. It is far better to accelerate slowly to get your car up to speed. Make sure to keep a good following distance from other cars so that you can anticipate a signal. The best mileage occurs if you are able to take the foot of the gas and coast up to a red light, if you time it right it may turn green before you get there and you can keep on going. You might just pull ahead of the person next to you who raced by you and had to hit the brakes hard into the signal.

As you can see the two factors I have outlined is not secret science. They are the overlooked obvious. You do not need to stress about your PSI in your ties, filling your gas on high or low at the station, or even using your AC. In some situations the AC is actually more efficient than the drag created from having your windows down. If you follow these driving habits not only will you save money, you will find you are more relaxed on the road as well.

FAQ - Water Fuel System For Cars

Is the water fuel system a perpetual motion machine?

The system is not a perpetual motion machine. It is a high efficiency electro mechanical system capable of producing hydrogen and oxygen in sufficient quantity to improve the overall fuel efficiency of internal combustion engines.

Is it safe?

Vehicles powered by the Water fuel system are inherently safer than hydrogen powered vehicles which require hydrogen tanks. Instead of hydrogen tanks, the Water fuel system extracts combustible hydrogen as needed from the water, and this steady release of hydrogen is burned continuously, thereby preventing larger accumulations of hydrogen gas.

Why is the Water fuel system is called a conversion system?

It is called a conversion system because it doesn't require removal, modification, or disabling of any of your vehicles' existing systems. Therefore, it allows you to run your vehicle on either 100% gasoline systems or the Water fuel system. In the unlikely event that your Water fuel system fails, you can easily switch back to solely using gasoline power. But, you'll soon be getting your system back into working order. Once you've driven with the Water fuel system you'll never be happy with anything else!

How well does the system perform?

A vehicle powered by the water hybrid system is theoretically capable of traveling from 50 to 300 miles on each gallon of supplemental water, while improving overall fuel efficiency up to 45%. However, as is true for any engine, actual efficiency depends on many factors such as; driving habits, terrain, vehicle weight and shape, and ability to tweak and optimize the system.

Can the Water fuel system be used in other ways?

Yes, the system can provide fuel from water for just about any home appliance requiring natural gas or propane as a source of heat; thereby saving valuable and diminishing natural resources. Space heaters and furnaces are excellent candidates. Stoves and other cooking units such as barbecue grills can also be fueled by the Water fuel system system. Such applications require a separate power supply to convert your homes 120 volt AC power into the 12 volt DC power required by the Water fuel system. You can purchase an inexpensive power supply at any electronics store such as Radio Shack, or have someone familiar with electronics build one for you since the design is very simple. The cost of home electricity used by the Water fuel system is insignificant, probably less than $3 per month in most cases.

Is the system difficult to build?

No, the Water fuel system is relatively easy to assemble and very easy to install, especially compared with other conversion plans on the market. No special tools are required. The usual tool and equipment found in a typical home workshop will do the job. Assembling the HyTronic module to achieve its inherent high level of reliability requires care and attention to details, along with average electronics skills. The only special piece of test equipment you may want to have access to use is an oscilloscope. It is not necessary, but may help you obtain peak efficiency from the HyTronics module. But, you shouldn't have any problem getting help from a local electronics guru if you don't have an oscilloscope. Most folks are so fascinated by unusual electronic systems and devices that they would almost be willing to pay you for the privilege of tweaking your HyTronics module.

Can I buy a ready to install Water fuel system?

Right now, this specific Water fuel system is not being commercially manufactured, but there are various distributors around the country who offer DIY (Do it yourself) parts or fully assembled kits utilizing similar technologies and principles. Planning is in the initial stages for producing Water fuel system conversion kits for most vehicles and eventually manufacturing the entire system,or at least its major components. We're hoping to have some prototype kits tested soon and delivery of ready to install kits should begin sometime before the end of 2008.

EV Basics III - Why Drive Electric?

Important Acronyms:

BEV: Battery Electric Vehicle - A vehicle powered exclusive from energy stored in its battery pack.

EV: Electric Vehicle - Any vehicle that uses electricity to provide some or all of the power to its wheels.

ICE: Internal Combustion Engine - The smog-belching, globe-warming automobile power plants used in the dark ages of the 20th Century.

kWh: Kilowatt*hour - A unit of energy equal to 1000 watt*hours. A 100 Watt light bulb burning for 10 hours uses 1kWh of energy.

Li-Ion: Lithium-Ion - A battery chemistry which allows EVs to travel much further on a single charge of the battery pack, relative to older battery technologies.

NiMH: Nickel-Metal Hydride - A proven battery technology which has been used in EVs for many years.

PHEV: Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle - A vehicle with an electric motor and a battery pack that can be charged from a home electrical system, but which also has an on-board ICE and fuel tank which can power the car if the battery pack is drained.

What's the big deal? You've read articles about electric vehicles. You've seen people carrying signs at demonstrations. You know that a lot of folks out there want the major automakers to start building electric cars for the masses, but you don't know why. What are the benefits of electric vehicles? Why would someone choose an electric car over a gasoline-powered vehicle?

The two primary reasons to drive an electric vehicle are simple: cost and convenience.

"What's that?" you might ask, "I thought electric vehicles were all about saving the world!"

And you would be making a good point. Studies have shown that a mass shift from gas-powered cars to EVs would result in lower pollution, including lower emissions of greenhouse gasses even if the utility grid gets 80% of its power from dirty, old-fashioned coal plants. Additionally, eliminating gasoline-powered cars could eliminate our dependence on foreign oil. Getting rid of oil power would improve national and global security. As long as we rely on distant, politically-unstable regions of the world for much of our energy supply, we risk disaster. The world would be a safer place if every region produced its own energy in a sustainable, environmentally-sound manner.

However, the bottom line is that our lives would generally be better if everyone switched from ICE-powered cars to EVs. We would save money, simplify our lives and make our automobiles more convenient to operate.

Imagine your day if you drove an EV. It would take you only a few seconds to unplug your car every morning. Since the car gets its power from a plug in your wall, it would be easy to design a system that lets you tell your car when to turn on the electric heater so that your seats and steering wheel are nice and warm when you climb in. You would never need to wait in line at gas stations. The drive system in an EV is much simpler than the drive system in an ICE-powered car, so your EV would be much more reliable and would require much less maintenance. If you want a car you almost never have to worry about, then an EV is the car for you.

Driving an EV also costs less. For example, let us look at one EV that is currently being manufactured by the California-based company, AC Propulsion. Their eBox uses a first-generation Scion xB platform, with the stock ICE-drivetrain replaced by their electric drive system. A standard 2006 Scion xB had a combined fuel mileage rating of 31 mpg. At gasoline prices of $3/gallon, the xB uses 10 cents worth of gasoline per mile. The eBox can travel 120-150 miles on a single charge of its 35kWh battery pack. If we assume that electricity costs 10 cents per kWh and that the battery pack is fully drained in 120 miles, then we calculate the cost of electricity at 3 cents per mile, a 70% percent cost savings! Even in areas where electricity costs up to 20 cents per kWh, the eBox costs 40% less to power than a standard Scion xB.

Furthermore, an EV never needs an oil change. It never needs new spark plugs. Since it gets most of its stopping power from a regenerative braking system, brake pads and rotors last several times longer than those in an ICE-powered car. Since electric motors have much more torque at lower speeds when compared to ICEs, transmissions in electric vehicles can be drastically simplified. The simplified drivetrain in an EV not only makes it more reliable, it also results in much lower maintenance costs.

The most expensive part of an EV, in terms of maintenance, is likely to be the battery pack. All batteries currently manufactured have a limited lifespan. Unless this changes, every EV will eventually need a new battery pack, which will costs thousands of dollars. However, companies such as A123 and Altairnano are currently developing lithium-based batteries with dramatically longer lifespans than those of current Li-Ion batteries. People are also driving EVs much further than previously expected on a single battery pack. Originally, skeptics predicted that the NiMH batteries in the Toyota RAV4 EV, available in the USA from 1997 through 2003, would need to be replaced during the first 50,000 miles of travel, but the RAV4 EV has surprised the EV community, with several of the original battery packs lasting beyond the 100,000 mile mark.

It is reasonable to expect that replacement battery pack prices could be brought down to $2000 when they are mass-produced for a major auto manufacturer. If the lifespan of these battery packs can be brought up to 150,000 miles through technological development, the cost per mile for battery use would be 1.3 cents. Compare that to the cost of getting an oil change at Jiffy Lube every 3000 miles. Using a "synthetic mix" of engine oil will cost you $49.99 each visit, for a cost per mile of 1.6 cents. Additionally, there is much discussion in the EV community about the possibility of renting or leasing battery packs, which would effectively allow EV owners to spread out the cost of battery replacement over the life of an EV.

Of course, no discussion of EV cost savings would be complete without the mention of the large-scale cost savings associated with the prevention of global warming. If the world moves from ICE-powered vehicles to EVs powered by renewable energy sources, we can still reverse the heating trend which has been documented in recent years. This would not only save the world trillions of dollars; it could save millions of lives as well.

At this point, an astute reader might argue, "Sure, what you say looks good on paper, but what about the real world? From what I've seen, EVs are currently more expensive than ICE-powered cars, and their limited range makes them less convenient."

Clearly, EVs have yet to reach their full potential in terms of cost, convenience and reliability benefits. For instance, an AC Propulsion eBox would cost you roughly $70,000 ($15K for a used Scion xB plus $55K for the conversion) versus roughly $20,000 for a new Scion xB. Why is there such a price difference? Volume! Tom Gage, president of AC Propulsion, predicts that the company could bring the cost down to "a retail price equivalent of $10,000 per drivetrain" if they were manufacturing between 50,000 and 100,000 units per year. If a major auto manufacturer were building millions of the drivetrains each year, costs would fall much further.

Range issues are also being addressed through rapid development of better batteries. The original GM EV1, introduced in 1996 with low-tech lead acid batteries, had a "real world" range of somewhere between 45 and 75 miles, depending on how aggressively the car was driven. When GM introduced the same car with NiMH batteries, the range almost doubled. The Tesla Roadster, scheduled for production release in early 2008, has a published range of 245 miles. Other EVs slated for production, such as the Chevrolet Volt which will be released in or around 2010, will be PHEVs. As such, owners will be able to plug in their Volts and charge the battery packs from an electrical outlet. The car will travel for roughly forty miles on the energy stored in the batteries, but drivers need not worry if they drain the battery pack! The Volt will be equipped with a small generator and a fuel tank. The generator will turn on automatically before the batteries are drained and will provide enough electricity to power the car and recharge the batteries. The Volt will have a total range of 390 miles. If the fuel tank gets low, just fill up at a local gas station and the car is "good to go" for another long stretch of road. Rumors are circulating that Tesla and Toyota are also developing PHEVs for release in the near-ish future.

Convinced? Ready to make the switch to a convenient, cost-saving EV? If so, you may be wondering how to encourage the auto companies to build and sell EVs as soon as possible. The good news is that you can choose from a few available EVs right now, such as the eBox described above. If $70K is a bit too much money, you can buy one of the many electric bicycles on the market today, starting at less than $1000. If you want a bit more power, enough to travel on a multi-lane highway, you can purchase a Vectrix MaxiScooter, with a top speed of 62 mph and a range upwards of sixty miles.

But most will agree that the golden age of electric vehicles lies in the future. How do we make this golden age happen ASAP? Here are a few ideas:

- Contact the major auto manufacturers and tell them you want to buy an electric vehicle. Let them know that you plan on postponing a new vehicle purchase until you can buy a BEV or a PHEV. The car companies really do respond to customer demands. Think about how quickly their marketing campaigns have gone from extolling the size of their SUVs to bragging about the gas mileage of their compact cars, now that gas prices are spiking.
